Founded in 1996, Actinic is a British company specialising in helping small and medium retailers trade, both online and offline, using its ecommerce and electronic point of sale (EPOS) packages. Actinic offers ecommerce products for web designers and self-builders, including both web-based and desktop solutions. Over half of SMEs using packaged software to run their e-stores use Actinic.
Ben heads the development of Actinic’s portfolio of ecommerce and retail applications. Prior to Actinic, Ben was IT program manager responsible for browser-delivered software services at Xyratex and he began his career at BSkyB and BAE Systems. At BSkyB he was part of the team responsible for relaunching SkySports.com and its supporting infrastructure. He also worked on some of the original ‘red button’ interactive television services. At BAE Systems Ben won Apprentice of the Year in 1997 and first became involved in professional software development.
Ben is married with one daughter and lives on the Isle of Wight. He is a sailing and water sports enthusiast.
